CHICAGO – Four-year guard Gina Mathews was saluted as the Roosevelt women's basketball team's sole senior of 2017 prior to the Lakers' game against Judson at the Goodman Center on Wednesday night.
Mathews and Paige Gallimore led the Lakers with eight points apiece, but Roosevelt struggled shooting the ball all game in a 64-44 loss to the Eagles in the regular season finale.
The Lakers finish 2016-17 13-17 overall and 7-13 in CCAC play.
Roosevelt made just 3-of-16 shots in each of the first two quarters, including a second quarter that saw the visiting Eagles (17-12, 12-7 CCAC) outscore the Lakers 27-8 to build a big lead that proved too much to overcome for the hosts.
Judson scored the game's first eight points before Roosevelt rallied back to outscore the Eagles 13-1 and take a four-point lead after 10 minutes.
Unfortunately for the Green and White, the Lakers could not keep the lead due to their rough second-stanza performance and Judson took advantage.
Jayla Barrett led all scorers with 11 points.
Mathews made her final collegiate contest count, taking a career-high 19 shots.
