CHICAGO – Roosevelt University senior guard Jason Markus (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North H.S.) was named a 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete, the NAIA announced on Monday, March 13.

Markus earned the designation for his academic excellence for the second straight season, becoming one of 175 honorees in the sport of men's basketball to garner the distinction this year.

A hospitality and tourism management major at Roosevelt and a captain of the men's basketball team, Markus recently finished his four-year playing career as a Laker with sights set on walking across the Auditorium Theatre this May to receive his degree.

In order to be nominated for the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete designation by an institution's head coach or sports information director, the NAIA requires that a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
