ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt softball team mustered just two hits against Aquinas (Mich.) pitching during Sunday's twinbill at The Ballpark at Rosemont, as the Lakers dropped a 3-0 opener and an 8-0 finale to the Saints.

Roosevelt fell to 7-7 on the year after facing an Aquinas team that entered the day with just one loss and improved to 18-1 after the doubleheader.

Haley Huss had the Lakers' sole hit, a sixth-inning single, against Marisa Loya, but unfortunately Maddy Janssen's complete-game quality start (six hits, two earned runs) did not get support in a 3-0 loss.

Amber Green supplied the Lakers' only base knock against Mandy Rosol, hitting a fifth-inning single after coming off the bench to play center, but Aquinas took advantage of two early Roosevelt errors to score three runs in each of the first two innings en route to an 8-0 run-rule decision.

Brianna McCormick continued to shine in relief, tossing 1.1 perfect innings during the nightcap in relief of starter Rachel Kubisz.

Roosevelt will look to rebound on Tuesday against Judson in Elgin. The games, which were originally scheduled for Wednesday, were moved up to Tuesday at 4 p.m. due to unfavorable weather forecasts for the following day.
