Haley Huss (right, with head coach Aaron Moore) is used to standing on third with a CCAC-best four triples thus far.
CHICAGO - Roosevelt University sophomore shortstop Haley Huss (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna H.S.) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week for the period ending April 16, the league announced on Tuesday, April 18.
Huss went 11-for-18 at the plate for a .611 average in six games for the Lakers last week. She hit two inside-the-park home runs, a double, and a triple while driving in seven runs and slugging at a clip of 1.111.
She provided walk-off herocis against Indiana South Bend on April 13, leading off the top of the eighth inning with a double that elicited an error and allowed Huss to sprint all the way home with the winning run.
She also had a pair of hits and one of her home runs, among the three runs she drove in, to key a victory over Calumet St. Joseph on April 11.
Huss is hitting a team-high .424 (39-for-92) with 10 extra-base hits and an on-base percentage of .514 in 32 games this spring. She is tied for the CCAC lead with four triples.
The CCAC Player of the Week honor is the first of Huss' young collegiate career.
