PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Jalan Williams' RBI double in the top of the 10th inning lifted the resilient Roosevelt baseball team to an 8-7 victory in game two of its doubleheader against host Trinity Christian, allowing the Lakers to earn a split against the Trolls on Tuesday.

The Lakers (9-23, 5-14 CCAC) fell behind early in game one and lost 8-1 to the Trolls (20-21, 8-11 CCAC) before rebounding with two leads that were eventually erased but staying focused in extras and Williams' game-winning heroics.

Mark Albrecht had four hits on the day, including three in game two, and Jonah Meidl-Zahorodny posted two-hit games in each contest in his return to the lineup.

Nick Garcia drove in two runs during Roosevelt's four-run fourth in the nightcap, and the Lakers went up 5-0 before Trinity Christian roared back with a five-run fifth to tie the game.

Roosevelt scored twice in the top of the sixth to retake the lead thanks to an RBI single from Tyler Ward and a run-scoring error.

Trinity Christian tied it again after scoring a run in the sixth and a game-tying run on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the ninth.

Matt Kozlak drew a leadoff walk in the 10th, after moving into scoring position on a groundout hit by Ward, the sophomore infielder scored when Williams smacked a double down the leftfield line for the go-ahead run.

Matt Garbacz faced trouble with back-to-back one-out singles hit by the Trolls, but the rookie pitcher kept his composure and retired the next two batters for the win.

Game one started rough for the Lakers after Trinity Christian followed up a two-run first with a four-run second to dig a big early hole for the Green and White.
