CHICAGO - Roosevelt University pitcher Matt Dunne (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) was named a 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athlete, the association announced on Tuesday, May 31. 

Dunne, who led all Roosevelt starters in earned run average (4.24) while leading the Lakers in strikeouts (43), innings pitched (68) and complete games (four), continued to excel in the classroom with a semester grade point average over 3.85 and an overall GPA above 3.75 as an accounting major. 

Per the NAIA, in order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
