PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Miguel Rodriguez scored both of Roosevelt's goals, sending the Lakers past host Trinity Christian by a final of 2-1 at Schaaf Field on Saturday.

Roosevelt picked up its fourth consecutive win and its fifth victory in the last six matches to even the Lakers' overall record to 6-6-0 and improve their CCAC mark to 5-1-0.

Coming into the game, Rodriguez had tallied just one goal this year and in his young collegiate career. The sophomore, who usually goes by his middle name Angel among his teammates, was a godsend for the Lakers on this day. He opened the scoring with a strike in the 34th minute following a cross from Anibal Mendoza before adding another net-hugging ball in the 67th minute.

Gary Mendoza made three saves and kept the Trolls (3-9-1, 1-5-0 CCAC) off the scoreboard until the 84th minute, when Kris Kirchhoff slipped one in past Mendoza to make it a one-goal game.

The Lakers prevented the Trolls from unleashing any more shots the rest of the game, clinching the result.

Roosevelt plays at Holy Cross (Ind.) next Saturday.
