WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Roosevelt Lakers cross country teams had a change of schedule this weekend and competed in the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Benedictine University, in a return to St. James Forest Preserve for the second time in less than a month. 

Rookie Alejandro Unzueta became the frontrunner for the Green and White in the five-mile adventure. He posted a new season and personal best with a time of 30:42.0, finishing 112nd overall.

Veteran Kwesi Ayekumi was just by Unzueta, and he posted a time of 30:58.2, finishing 114th overall.

Rookie Zachary Thornton posted a season and personal best in his collegiate career. He posted a time of 32:21.7 for 140th overall.

Nicholas Martone followed suit with Thornton, where he posted season and personal bests as well. He posted a time of 32:30.6 for 144th overall.

Rounding out the Lakers' performance were Dorian Meighan and Edwin Renteria. They finished back-to-back together and finished 34:03.1 and 34:03.7, respectively, for 157th and 158th overall.

The men finished 16th overall in the team standings. North Central College took top honors for the invitational.

The Lakers will take a trip to Iowa for the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy University for one last preparation race before the CCAC Conference Championships.
