Men's Basketball - Wed, Jan 25, 2012
Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt men's basketball team fell prey to a stingy Indiana University South Bend defense on Wednesday night as the Lakers tallied just 17 second-half points in a 57-42 setback to the Titans at Attack Athletics.

Roosevelt has now dropped three straight games to slip to 7-12 overall and 0-2 in the CCAC. IU South Bend moved above the .500 mark on the year at 11-10, while leveling its league ledger at 1-1.

The Lakers, who trailed 26-25 at the half, netted just 5-of-22 shots (22%) in the second period, never finding their offense rhythm. Both teams came out of the locker rooms sluggish with neither side converting a field goal in first six minutes of the second stanza. It was a one-possession game with Roosevelt down 33-31 with 10:38 left when the Titans hit three straight shots, including a pair of back-breaking three-pointers to push the advantage to double digits.

Senior Paul Tometich led the Lakers with 14 points. Forwards Brandyn Denson and Elliott Vaughn each grabbed a team-best six rebounds for Roosevelt.

Chris Beam paced IUSB with a game-high 25 points, knocking down four three-pointers along the way. Tammate Alanzo Bass added 16 points (3-of-5 3PT), six rebounds and six assists. All in all, the Titans netted 10 triples on the night.

Roosevelt will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 28, when they host St. Francis (Ill.) at 3:00 p.m.
