Chicago, Ill. - Three baskets from sophomore Erin McCaslin, including a pair of critical three-pointers, in the final four minutes helped the Roosevelt women's basketball team edge visiting Indiana University South Bend, 56-53, on Wednesday evening at Attack Athletics.

McCaslin finished with 11 points for the Lakers, who moved to 13-10 on the season and 1-2 in the CCAC with the victory. Sophomore Casey Davis netted a game-high 17 points, while senior Peggie Parhas also scored in double figures for the Lakers with 10 points. Parhas added five rebounds and four steals.

The Titans (8-13, 0-2) succeeded in slowing down Roosevelt's high octane offense, which ranked ninth in the nation heading into the game with the Lakers scoring over 77 ppg. The score was knotted at 45-45 with 4:17 left when McCaslin put Roosevelt in front on a driving lay-up.

After IUSB split a pair of free throws, senior Alexia Tann found McCaslin open behind the three-point line and the sharp-shooter knocked down a triple to stake the Lakers to a four-point advantage. The sequence would repeat itself the next time down the floor with the Titans splitting two free throws and Tann finding McCaslin, who swished a three-pointer to put Roosevelt in front, 53-47, with two minutes left. That proved to be enough of a cushion as the Lakers held on down the stretch for a three-point victory.

Lizzie Stapke scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead IUSB.

The Lakers will now have a week off before returning to the hardwood on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates versus Robert Morris at 5:30 p.m.
