Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt women's basketball team put an impressive cap on its 2011-12 regular season home schedule, storming back from an eight-point deficit late in the first half to defeat Robert Morris, 72-55, on Wednesday night at Attack Athletics.
The win was the second straight for the Lakers and the first-ever over their city rivals. Roosevelt moved to 15-14 overall on the year while remaining in a fourth-place tie in the CCAC at 3-6. The Eagles slipped to 16-10 and 4-5 in league play.
Robert Morris controlled play in the first half and led 33-25 with less than two minutes remaining. Roosevelt reclaimed momentum heading into the locker room, closing the opening period on a 7-0 run to trail 33-32 at halftime. The Lakers continued their strong play to start the second stanza, outscoring the Eagles 26-6 to build a 19-point lead that propelled the home side to victory.

Kiara Towles led Roosevelt with 21 points. Sophomore
Casey Davis scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half while sophomore
Erin McCaslin tallied all 11 of her points in the opening 20 minutes. Sophomore
Maria Tamburrino finished with 10 points as part of her team-best fifth double-double of the season, as she also collected 10 rebounds.
Roosevelt's prowess on the boards was the difference in the contest as the Lakers outrebounded Robert Morris, 62-34. Three Roosevelt players reached double figures in rebounds as Tamburrino was joined by sophomore
Tori Clark, who pulled down a career-best 14 caroms, and sophomore Jennie Van Hook, who tabbed 10 rebounds.
Senior
Alexia Tann was honored before the contest and played 34 solid minutes, finishing with six points, six rebounds and three assists.
Sarah Rogers led the Eagles with 15 points. Robert Morris shot just 33 percent from the field in the game and converted only five percent (1-for-21) of its three-point attempts.
The Lakers will close out the 2011-12 regular season on Saturday at #11 Olivet Nazarene. Tip-off in Bourbonnais, Ill., is set for 1:00 p.m.
