Bourbonnais, Ill. - The Roosevelt women's basketball team was unable to derail one of the hottest teams in the NAIA on Saturday as #10 Olivet Nazarene notched its 17th straight victory, defeating the Lakers 128-92 on Saturday afternoon at McHie Arena.
The Tigers finished the regular season a perfect 10-0 in the CCAC and 27-3 overall. Roosevelt heads into the postseason at 15-15 and finished in fifth place in the league at 3-7. The Lakers will square off the fourth-seeded Robert Morris in the opening round of the CCAC Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The time and location of the contest will be announced on Sunday.
The loss on Saturday spoiled career high scoring efforts from Roosevelt sophomores
Maria Tamburrino and
Erin McCaslin. Tamburinno finished with 27 points, while adding nine rebounds. McCaslin totaled 26 points, knocking down five three-pointers. She also dished out three assists.
Olivet Nazarene, which leads the nation in scoring at better than 103 points per game, had six players score in double figures, led by Danielle Tolbert's 15 points. Tolbert also added seven assists and five rebounds. The Tigers connected on 24 three-pointers in the contest and shot 49 percent from the field.
