Chicago, Ill. - Roosevelt University sophomores Erin McCaslin and Maria Tamburrino were recognized for their achievements in the classroom on Friday as both earned a spot on the 2011-12 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team. They are the first Roosevelt student-athletes to receive league academic honors.

To qualify for nomination to CCAC All-Academic Team a student-athlete must own a GPA of 3.25 or higher, have earned at least 30 semester credit hours and been enrolled at the institution for one full year.

McCaslin, a business major, boasts a 3.95 GPA. Her success in the classroom has been matched by her on-court performance as the Maple Valley, Wash., native is coming off a sophomore season in which she averaged 9.4 points per game and connected on a team-high 71 three-pointers. Tamburrino, a math/education major, has earned a 3.4 GPA through three full semesters. She also earned All-CCAC recognition this season for her play on the floor, leading the Lakers in rebounding (7.5 rpg), while also averaging 9.8 points per outing.
