Chicago, Ill. - Roosevelt Head Volleyball Coach
Kelly Fitzgerald announced on Monday that four-time All-League setter Marissa Minturn, who hails from Portland, Ore., will venture to the Windy City to join the Lakers for the 2012 season.
"When I toured Roosevelt, I instantly fell in love with it," said Minturn. "The location in the city makes for an exciting campus experience. The new facilities and a small class size were also a big plus for me. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming, especially the girls on the volleyball team. It just seems like the perfect fit."
Minturn will graduate this spring from Cleveland High School in Portland, where she was a two-time team captain and team MVP for the Warriors. Minturn was a four-time All-Portland Interscholastic League recipient during her prep career, earning Second Team All-PIL honors as a freshman and First Team All-PIL accolades following her last three seasons at Cleveland.
Minturn played on the club level for Athena Volleyball Academy.
Roosevelt will begin its second season of intercollegiate competition in August.
