Chicago, Ill. -
Roosevelt University Head Softball Coach Amanda Scott
welcomed two more student-athletes to her 2012 recruiting class, announcing on Tuesday that Oak Forest High School third baseman Priscilla Rios and Plainfield Central High School outfielder Morgan Vogt committed to join the Lakers for their inaugural season of intercollegiate competition.
Rios comes to Roosevelt from a decorated prep program at Oak Forest, where she was a member of a Bengals squad that captured the 2009 IHSA Class 3A State Championship and took home South Suburban Conference, regional and sectional titles in her sophomore and junior campaigns. The third baseman played on the club circuit for the Orland A's.
"Priscilla has worked extremely hard to make her dream of playing college softball a reality," said Scott."She has a great glove at third, but I expect her to make her biggest impact at the plate. She is a true competitor and packs a lot of power."
Vogt is heading into her final prep campaign at Plainfield Central High School. Last season, the outfielder hit .327 for the Wildcats with 15 RBI and 34 runs scored. She played travel softball for the New Lenox Lightning.
"Adding Morgan to our softball roster is huge!," said Scott."She is a phenomenal athlete with great game savvy. She will definitely lead our program both offensively and defensively."
The Roosevelt softball team will play its inaugural season in the spring of 2013 with the Lakers competing in the NAIA as members of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
