Chicago, Ill. – Roosevelt University Head Softball Coach Amanda Scott welcomed two more student-athletes to her inaugural 2012-13 squad, announcing the signing of twins Kelly and Kathy Crowley of De La Salle High School.
Kelly Crowley anchored first base for the Meteors in 2012 while Kathy Crowley pitched and served as an infielder. Kelly also exceled for De La Salle on the basketball floor, leading her team to its first IHSA Regional title in school history after tallying 29 points in the title game versus Riverside Brookfield. Both played on the travel softball circuit for Chicago Outburst.
"What a great opportunity for Kelly and Kathy to go to school and play softball together," said Scott. "They will be an important part of our first class of student-athletes.
"Kelly is extremely athletic and will give us power at the plate, while Kathy is going to be another true utility player for us," Scott continued. "Her experience is on the left-side of the field, but she also has experience on the mound. I'm excited to have their energy on campus."
Kelly and Kathy echo Scott's excitement.
"I chose to come to Roosevelt University because I thought it would be a great place to start my new beginning," said Kelly. "I get to be part of the first class to live in the new (Wabash) building and I get to be part of the first ever Roosevelt softball team."
"I love the location of where the school is at," said Kathy. "I love being downtown and going to school there was always a dream of mine. Also, I chose to come here because I was given the opportunity to play softball. I am excited to be a Laker!"
The Roosevelt softball team will play its inaugural season in the spring of 2013, competing as members of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
