Somers, Wis. – The Roosevelt men's cross country team opened its 2012 season on Saturday with a strong 10th-place finish at the Midwest Open held at the Dannehl Cross Country Course on the campus of UW-Parkside.
Senior Alex Agafonov led the Lakers, navigating the 8,000-meter course in 27:23, which was good for 28th place. Senior Aaron King was not far behind, crossing the finish line in 45th place with a time of 27:54. Giancarlo Vassallo (90th/29:33), Jon Hernandez (92nd/29:37) and Thomas Woods (101st/31:02) rounded out the top five for Roosevelt.
The Lakers finished 10th overall out of the 15 teams competing, besting NCAA Division I school UW-Green Bay along the way. Host UW-Parkside claimed the meet title.
