Somers, Wis. - Rookie Edith Samano and sophomore Amber Snearl were the two lone competitors to take to the course as the Roosevelt women's cross country team opened its 2012 season on Saturday at the Midwest Open, hosted by UW-Parkside.

Samano ran the 5,000-meter Dannehl Cross Country Course in a time of 23:41, which put her in 134th place. Sneal finished in 146th with a time of 24:21.
