
LaSalle, Ill. – The Roosevelt men's golf team shaved six strokes off its team score on Saturday at Oak Ridge Golf Club to secure a solid ninth-place finish at the two-day Illinois Valley Invitational. Freshman Trevor Berry led the Lakers at the tournament, carding rounds of 77 and 78, respectively, as Roosevelt finished the event with a team stroke total of 642.
The Lakers opened play on Friday at Deer Park Golf Club, totaling a score of 324 behind Berry's 77, along with rounds of 80 from junior Jeremy Scott, 82 from junior Aaron Wheeler and 85 from freshman Kyle Martens.
Freshman Evan Krohn, who carded an 88 in Friday's opening round, bounced back to lead Roosevelt with a round of 76 on Saturday. Berry and Wheeler each posted a 78, while Martens tallied the other scoring round at 86.
Illinois Central won the event with a two-day team total of 601.
The Lakers will be back in action on Monday, competing in the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Tournament.
