
Whiting, Ind. – The Roosevelt volleyball team continued its winning ways on Friday, opening the CCSJ Tournament with a pair of victories. Roosevelt kicked off the tournament by sweeping UM-Dearborn 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 and then cooled off a red-hot Aquinas side in four sets, 25-14, 26-24, 16-25, 25-17 at the Dennis and Leslie Rittenmeyer Center.
The pair of victories on Friday pushed the Lakers season record to 19-11, marking a 14-win improvement over the team's inaugural 2011 campaign final ledger.
UM-Dearborn fell to 14-13 on the season with the loss to Roosevelt. Aquinas, meanwhile, had its eight-match winning streak snapped by the Lakers. The Saints are now 12-12 this year.
Roosevelt will resume tournament play tomorrow when they square off with #18 IU East (31-2) at 9:00 a.m. The Lakers wrap up the event at 1:00 p.m. versus Northwestern Ohio (26-2).
