Grand Rapids, Mich. – Senior Aaron King looks to be primed for a strong showing at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Championships on Nov. 3 following his performance in leading the Roosevelt men's cross country team to a 20th place finish on Saturday at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge.
King finished the 8K race in 26:37.33, less than three seconds over the school record time set by senior Alex Agafonov one week ago. King crossed the line in 57th place in the field of 352 competitors. Agafonov crossed the line 20 seconds behind King in 80th place with a time of 26:57.93. Jon Hernandez (27:57.47), GianCarlo Vassallo (28:38.57) and Thomas Woods (30:15.56) rounded out the field for the Lakers.
Roosevelt finished event, which featured 34 teams, in 20th place. The Lakers came in ahead of CCAC rivals Judson, Trinity International and Calumet-St. Joseph, among those league schools that posted team scores.
The Lakers will be back in action on Nov. 3 at the CCAC Championships in Channahon, Ill.
