
Romeoville, Ill. - The Roosevelt women's basketball team locked horns with NCAA Division II Lewis University on Saturday afternoon in an exhibition tune-up for both teams before kicking off the regular season. The host Flyers showed their shooting prowess in the game, knocking down 14 three-pointers in a 98-73 victory over the Lakers.
Junior Casey Davis led Roosevelt with 19 points, while junior Maria Tamburrino chipped in with 16 points.
Lewis had six players score in double figures, led by Nikki Nellen's 20-point effort.
The Lakers will open the 2012-13 regular season on Thursday, Nov. 1 when they travel to take on Ashford at 7:00 p.m. Roosevelt's first home game is on Nov. 3 when they host Clarke College at 1:00 p.m. at the UIC Physical Education Building.
