Joliet, Ill. – St. Francis (Ill.) tallied three unanswered goals in the second half to break open an otherwise tight contest and defeat the Roosevelt women's soccer team, 5-1, in the regular season finale for both schools on Saturday evening at ATI Field at Memorial Stadium.

The Lakers finished their inaugural season with an overall record of 2-13-1 and 0-10-1 in CCAC play. The Fighting Saints improved to 12-6-0 and 6-5-0 in the league, which qualified St. Francis (Ill.) for the CCAC postseason tournament.

Roosevelt trailed early 1-0, but tied the score in the 20th minute when freshman Carli Schlaker netted the equalizer with her second goal of the season. St. Francis (Ill.) pushed back in front 15 minutes later on goal by Brooke Polus. The score remained 2-1 at intermission, but the Fighting Saints scored a minute into the second period, and eventually added two more goals for the final 5-1 margin.

Freshman Samantha Anderson made the start in goal for the Lakers and recorded a school-record 20 saves on the night. St. Francis (Ill.) peppered Roosevelt's keeper with 42 total shots in the match. The Lakers accounted for five shots, two of which were on frame.
