Steve Marchi
Head Coach- 2nd Season

Steve Marchi was appointed the first-ever Head Baseball Coach at Roosevelt University on September 1, 2009 and charged with building a new program that will begin its inaugural intercollegiate season in the 2010-11 at the NAIA level. The launch of the baseball program is part of the revival of intercollegiate athletics at Roosevelt University. Roosevelt has not sponsored athletics since 1989 and has never featured a baseball team.

Marchi, a 2008 graduate of Roosevelt, joined the Lakers after serving for one season as the head coach at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Ill., where he took over a program with only five returning players and quickly rebuilt a team that would go on to surpass its win total from the prior season and produced three All-North Central Community College Conference performers and one All-Region 4 honoree.

Prior to his stint at Harper, Marchi spent five years as the Facilities Manager at Arlington Park Racecourse where he managed operations for a department with a $7.5 million annual budget and was home to some of horseracing's most prestigious events.

Marchi was a standout performer as a player, serving as team captain and earning conference all-star honors as a pitcher at Palatine High School. He went on to receive all-conference accolades at Southeastern Illinois College and all-region honors at Oakton Community College.

Marchi is married with two sons. The family resides in Palatine, Ill.

Mike Schultz
Assistant Coach- 2nd Season
Mike Schultz is in his second season as assistant coach with the Roosevelt baseball program after spending three years in a similar capacity at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.

His expertise with the Wabash pitching staff helped the team earn its first two North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament berths in school history following the 2009 and 2010 seasons. During his tenure, Schultz mentored four All-NCAC pitchers, two NCAC Pitchers of the Week, and one pitcher that signed professionally with the Gary Railcats of the Northern League. At Wabash, Schultz also had duties with recruiting, field maintenance, and youth camps.

In the summer of 2009, Schultz also served as the pitching coach for the Waterloo Bucks in the Northwoods League. Four Bucks pitchers under Schultz in 2009 were selected in the 2011 MLB Draft, including 2nd rounder Lenny Linsky from the University of Hawai'I by the Tampa Bay Rays. In total, 10 players on the 2009 Bucks team were selected in the June draft.

Schultz is currently the Manager of the Des Plaines Patriots in the Metropolitan Chicago Summer Baseball League of Illinois. The Metro League is a wood bat summer league comprised of only college eligible players. In the Patriots inaugural season, they won the MCSBL title and placed 5th in the AAABA National Tournament. On the year, the Patriots were 30-14-1. The Patriots had similar success in the 2011 campaign with the Patriots qualifying for their second straight AAABA national tournament appearance with a 31-18 overall record.

Schultz is a 2008 graduate of Wabash College, where he was a two-year letter winner for the baseball team. He received his bachelor of arts in religion.
